A NEW family-run business in the Dales was officially launched with some help from representatives of the emergency services.

After playing laser tag on holiday, David Ward and his family thought it would be nice to have access to a similar activity at home the Dales. Giving it some thought, Mr Ward, who has been a joiner for nearly 40 years and runs his own business, concluded “why not give it a go?”

Using infra-red light emitting taggers, laser tag as a game requires participants to take aim and fire at their opponents. It needs people to work as a team, figure out strategies to complete their mission, but most of all, to have fun.

After a short period setting-up, Mr Ward launched his new business with a light-hearted match against a crew from Richmond Fire Station. Pitted against the resident Elite Squad Laser Tag known as the “water fairies”, the “pyromaniacs” put up a valiant fight.

Mr Ward said: “Laser tag was the one thing that the whole family really enjoyed on holiday.

“We thought it would be great to have another fun outdoor activity here in Wensleydale, both for locals and visitors alike. It’s great for families, parties and team building. Ours is outdoors too.”

Outdoor sessions at Elite Squad Laser Tag, near Bellerby, are available to book for anyone over the age of seven, on Saturdays and Thursdays. See elitesquadlasertag.com or find them on Facebook.
