LOCAL author Helen Scarlett paid a visit to Chapter One Loftus as part of Indie Bookshop week to meet customers and sign copies of her debut novel, The Deception of Harriet Fleet.
The book, which was published in April, is an atmospheric Victorian chiller set locally. It features the Wainwright family, residents of the gloomy Teesbank Hall – recognisable as Preston Hall in Eaglescliffe – and governess Harriet.
Paul Jones-King of Chapter One Loftus said: "It was great to welcome Helen to the shop as part for Indie Bookshop Week, especially given the novel is set locally in Teesside. It was also amazing to have customers in the shop who were able to chat with Helen and have books signed personally for them. Helen also confirmed she’s working on her second novel."
