AGE is no boundary for Renee Glover as she celebrated her 107th birthday this week.
Known as "the Queen" at Wilton House care home, where she lives, former Aycliffe Angel Renee Glover, is thought to be the oldest woman living in Darlington.
Last year, the five-generation family couldn't celebrate the big day properly, so instead appealed to the public for 106 birthday cards.
The response was enormous, and thanks to residents and schoolchildren, 587 cards were delivered – many of which were couriered to Wilton House by a parade of bikers, much to the delight of Mrs Glover.
Others came from as far away as New Zealand, Canada and Australia.
Born two months before the First World War started in 1914 and the daughter of a local policeman, turned 107 on June 21.
Mrs Glover, whose family describe her as strong and full of life, had hip surgery at 105 and is back walking, against odds.
During the Second World War, Mrs Glover was an Inspector at the Royal Ordinance Factory in Newton Aycliffe, which made bombs and other munitions.

Despite Covid-19, the “strong and inspirational” woman, who also loves baking, plans to celebrate her birthday this weekend with her graddaughters.
The matriarch of five generations has often enjoyed visits from daughter Judith Hope, 83, granddaughters Alison Skilbeck, 48, and Sarah Renwick, 50, her five great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
