THREE men have been arrested following reports of a violent disturbance in Malton.

There was a large police presence in the Castlegate area of Malton following the report, at around 7am this morning (June 22).

North Yorkshire Police temporarily closed parts of the area to ensure there was no wider risk to the public and the incident could be brought to a safe conclusion.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Three men – one is his 50s and two in their 20s – have been arrested suspicion of a public order offences. They remain in custody while enquiries continue.

"Roads around the scene of the incident have now reopened. Thanks for your patience and understanding."
