THE rain helped to dent Richmond Mavericks' title hopes on Saturday.

The downpours meant Spennithorne and Harmby's Scott Ryan was available for selection as his cricket game was cancelled.

Ryan helped himself to two goals in each half to inflict further pain on Mavs, who were playing their fourth game in ten days, having recently lost in the Medals Shield final and been knocked out of the North Riding Cup.

Lee Thompson opened the scoring for Spenni, while player manager Baz Harker, who made a rare appearance due to limited numbers, also netted.

Mavs' goals came from Wayne Gredziak, Dan Johnson and Sam Pickersgill, who scored from the penalty spot.

After two days of heavy rain and both sides depleted, few would have expected such a good game between Catterick Garrison and Richmond Buck — two sides in need of the points to push into the top half of the league.

Buck started well and deservedly took the lead thanks to Marshal Thorogood who was played in down the right channel and he made no mistake into the corner.

Thorogood's good work down the right led to the Buck taking a two-goal league shortly after, James Donaldson scoring his first goal in over four years with the ball laid on a plate.

Thorogood hit the corner of post and bar, which nearly put Buck three up, and it proved a turning point as Garrison showed good fight to get back into the game before half time with two similar goals.

Liam Walker pulled a great ball back for Jamie Hunt to slot home and within a couple of minutes it was 2-2 with Walker this time finishing a Jez Mortimer pull back from the back line – equalising on the stroke of half time.

The second half was a cagier affair with less chances created, but James Donaldson struck again when he rifled in the winner after the hour to take the points and the man of the match award.

Hawes were quick out of the blocks in their home fixture against Colburn with Jordan Iveson's cool finish giving the Dales team an early lead.

The home side went 2-0 up in the 36rd minute with a Dan Richardson goal, before Colburn pulled one back through Connor McCormack.

Colburn were starting to get on top and pulled the game level on 66 minutes through Craig Teasdale.

However, Hawes went straight up the other end to get back in front through Tommy Calvert with a good finish from 30 yards.

Hawes went 4-2 up on 80 minutes with a Macauley Acton solo run and cool finish, and Tommy Calvert put the game to bed with a penalty soon afterwards.
