A PARISH council chairman has stepped down and handed over the chain of office to his successor.
Councillor Stuart Smith has been replaced as chairman of Saltburn, Marske and New Marske Parish Council by Councillor Stan Glover.
Former police officer Cllr Smith is also a ward councillor for Saltburn on Redcar and Cleveland Council and chairs its planning committee.
Cllr Smith said: “It has been an honour to serve as chairman of the parish council for the past two years and I wish my successor a healthy year in office.”
Cllr Glover said: “Stuart has led the council through necessary changes and new ways we’ve had to work and I want to thank him for his commitment over the past two years.”
Parish councillor Gary Cummins has been appointed as vice-chairman for 2021/22.
