PERSONAL best times are coming thick and fast for members of Allerton Juniors Athletics Club (AJAC), who have all managed to hit a streak of good form in recent events.

AJAC had by far the largest club turnout for the Pitstop 2km race on Wednesday, April 21 – an extremely fast and flat course in perfect weather conditions around the track at Croft Circuit.

All of the squad achieved significant personal best times and took six out of the top ten positions. Henry Kirkbride finished in overall third place with a time of 06:39, Caleb Stanley 06:48, Islay Wilson 06:48, Joshua Kitching 06:59, Lucy Boot 07:00, Albert Mack 07:02, Jake Holmes 07:13, William Horlock 07:27, Mhairi Corcoran 07:28, Isobel Cook 07:30, Maisey Davies 07:35, Enna Carrick 07:45, Connie Wilford 07:45, Daniel Dale 07:46, Amelie Hand 07:49, Tegan Smith 08:14, Harris Wilson 08:17, Maddie Short 08:32, Isabelle Smith 08:42 and Herbie Hand with 09:04.

In the 5km race around the circuit on the same evening, Tristan Baker ran a personal best of 19:31 and Sam Degazon finished in 19:53.

It wasn’t just the junior athletes putting in quick performances. Club treasurer Matt Burke achieved a personal best of 19:14 in the 5km race and coach Laura Wilson ran an impressive 44:48 in the popular 10km event.

The Run Nation Track Series at Hexham on Sunday, April 25 saw Holden Outhwaite achieve a personal best time of 02:05 for his first 800m of the season.

The AJAC Under 11 squad continue to improve at the local junior parkrun events. Sunday, May 2 saw a trip to the Knavesmire course at York for some of the team including Jake Holmes, James Throup, Olivia Throup, Enna Carrick, Tegan Smith and Isabelle Smith. Course personal best times were achieved for all athletes and four top ten positions, with Jake in second place.

Also in action at Northallerton junior parkrun were Connie Wilford and Herbie Hand, finishing in second and fifth positions respectively, again with course personal best times.
