A POPULAR York village pub is getting ready to reopen.

Gavin Patterson and Lorraine Taylor say that "after the worst possible 14 months" they are now ready to reopening the  Ship Inn on the banks of the River Ouse in Acaster Malbis on Monday (May 17) for inside trade.

Gavin said: “We are so excited to be able to reopen and welcome old and new guests alike.

"The Ship will be offering a new and exciting menu which, for the first time, will include a full Sunday Roast Carvery from Sunday, May 23."

The phrase “traditional country pub” could have been dreamt up for The Ship, with its exterior of rustic red bricks and cottage-style windows and large beer garden.

Head chef, Andy Exley, said: “It’s going to be epic. We’ll be serving five roast meat choices plus a massive selection of vegetables and side dishes, puddings and of course vegetarian and gluten free options.

"Prices start at just £6.95 and include a choice of free home made soup starter options."
