Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Premier League

Hartlepool lead the way after two games, maximising their two wins for 50 points, as they racked up a huge total at home to Marton on Saturday, of 268-9. Opener Alan Tebbett made 108 from 126 balls, while George Relton added 49, in a 129 run partnership for the fourth wicket, while Johnathon Pickard (4-76) and Alex Wardell (3-57) and Faizan Hussain (3-71), took the bowling honours.

Marton crashed to 93 all out with only Lee Hodgson resisting with 33 runs. Paul Braithwaite, Ben Smith, Neil Whitworth and Harry Crawshaw, all claimed two wickets each.

Richmondshire are second, as they beat Normanby Hall, after the visitors had scored 203 all out. Jordan Leech made 65 and Rashad Rashid added 49, while Craig Marshall claimed 5-51 off 12 overs.

Dalesman skipper Rob Carr led from the front in reply, as he scored another century, making 107 from 94 balls, which included 18 fours and a six, while Ajay Mandal added 35 runs and Matthew Cowling (31no), for a winning total of 205-5.

Saltburn are third, after a narrow three-wicket win at Middlesbrough. The home side totalled 175-9, with Oliver Stone the pick of the bowling, as he returned figures of 4-46. In reply, the visitors had opener Ryan Gibson to thank, as he made an excellent 130 not out, from 110 balls, which included 16 fours and two sixes. Wickets fell all around him, as James Lowe claimed 3-49, but they squeezed home on 179-7.

Marske are bottom after losing again, this time at home to Great Ayton. The home side were 220 all out at home, with Adam Hickey scoring 84 off 101 balls. Doug Mulholland took an excellent 6-68, with Thomas Leng claiming 3-51. Ayton started brightly in reply, as opener Chris Batchelor scored 56 and then Stephen Pennock fired 60 from 58 balls, to get them over the line on 221-6.

Stokesley were beaten heavily at home to Billingham Synthonia, but it wasn’t all plain sailing for the visitors, as Joe Marsay (4-65) and Robbie Atkinson (3-64) claimed early wickets, reducing the Synners to 39-4. However, JP Meade was in excellent form with the bat, scoring an excellent 155 not out from 132 balls, which included 16 fours and eight sixes, allowing his team to score 234-9.

The home side then crumbled to 114 all out, with only James Weighell resisting on 51 not out, as Ben Brown claimed an excellent 5-48.

Barnard Castle were thwarted the win, due to a last wicket unbroken stand of 45 runs, between Steven Purcifer (34no) and Jack Turnbull (11no), allowed the home side to hang on for the draw at 122-9.

Earlier, Barny had chosen to bat first totalling 219-6, thanks to James Clarkson (67), Owen Peddelty (30) and Samarth Seth (65). The home side struggled, as Karl Carver claimed a brilliant 7-22 from his 15 overs, but they held on for the draw.

Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Division One

Darlington were beaten at home to Sedgefield by four wickets. They scored 182-8, thanks to Alan Baldwin (57) and Andrew Peacock (44), but 46 runs from Kieren Latcham and 79 from Ben Swindale, as they put on 100 runs for the second wicket, helped their side to 185-6.

Darlington RA eventually had to settle for a draw at Wolviston, as they totalled 181-9, thanks to 56 runs from Callum Buckley. In reply, the home side held on at 181-9, as Oliver Sherwood batted well for 70 not out, despite Ben I'Anson claiming 4-19.
