A HIGH tea and a Frank Sinatra singalong in a care home cinema room helped Jean Smith celebrate her 100th birthday in style.

Jean, who lives in Hambleton Grange care home in Thirsk, was overwhelmed with deliveries of flowers, balloons, presents and cards including a special telegram from the Queen.

She enjoyed facetime calls with her loved ones and was delighted to receive a socially-distanced visit from her daughter.

The pair spent time catching up and Jean received a bottle of her favourite Chanel Number 5 perfume which is also celebrating its 100th birthday this year.

Jean’s two-year-old great grandson sent a heart-warming video birthday message where he sang happy birthday to his grandma and the care team at Hambleton Grange said there was not a dry eye in the house.

Jean, who said she doesn’t feel a day over 21, said: "I am very appreciative for the staff putting this party together and making me feel so special.

"I feel blessed to have made it to my 100th birthday.

"It really was a day to remember."
