AN online event will be held for people interested in northern Renaissance art who miss visiting museums due to lockdown.

The Bowes Museum, at Barnard Castle, will hold a webinar about St Luke Drawing the Virgin and Child (1470-80), from the Workshop of Dieric Bouts, on Monday, March 1, at 10am.

The event is part of an activity programme by the museum, along with Bristol Museum & Art Gallery and York Art Gallery, after five years of projects based on the painting.

Jess White, project coordinator for engaging audiences at The Bowes Museum, said: “I like to think that Bouts who ran his own workshop training young apprentices would be happy in the knowledge that his painting has inspired and engaged so many young people to respond creatively through making art, films, exhibitions, comics, zines, poetry and creative writing.”
