POLICE are appealing for information following reports of a woman knocking on vulnerable residents’ doors in Northallerton.

Officers said the incidents took place in the Lascelles Lane/The Crescent area of the town when the woman asked to borrow money from the residents under the guise that she knows their families, and will repay the money in due course.

The incidents took place between 9am and 10am on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “If you have any information in relation to these incidents such as CCTV cameras which may have picked up the female, or have seen any suspicious activity in the area then please contact 101 and quote incident number 183 of February 16, 2021, or if you would prefer to remain anonymous please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. As always North Yorkshire Police take this type of incident very seriously.

“We are offering reassurance to the residents who have been affected by this female and will work to identify any offenders who will be dealt with robustly by the police.”
