THE Northern Farmer Awards 2021 will take place – virtually – tonight, and it couldn't be more straightforward to see the ceremony take place.

Simply log onto the website at 7pm to watch the awards, which will be presented live by host Wendy Gibson.

The evening's entertainment will include a number of special guests, and you can get involved on social media, using the hashtag #northernfarmerawards.

This will be the eighth staging of the awards, which celebrate excellence in all sectors of agriculture across the North of England.

There are nine categories, with awards being offered to the Farm Manager of the Year, Sheep Farmer of the Year, Beef Farmer of the Year, Dairy Farmer of the Year, Arable Farmer of the Year, Family-Run Farm of the Year, Outstanding Achievement, Diversification of the Year, and Young Farmer of the Year.

There is also an overall award for Northern Farmer of the Year 2021.

Hannah Chapman, editor of Northern Farmer, said: "I'm sure we would all prefer to be in one place together to champion the remarkable achievements of the last 12 months in keeping the nation fed through these awful times, but of course, that's not possible at the moment.

"Our virtual awards are the next best thing, and we can't wait to share with you the full stories behind our wonderful finalists, with a few special guests popping up along the way.

"We were determined that the 2021 awards would go ahead after such a tough year, and a huge thank you to our sponsors, and the hardworking Northern Farmer team, for making them happen.

"Good luck to all our finalists, who represent the very best that farming in our region has to offer."
