THE Environment Agency has issued flood warnings for Northallerton after a day of torrential rain from Storm Christoph.

The warnings relates to the confluence of Turker and Sun Becks, Sun Beck itself and Willow Beck.

In Brompton, a warning has been issued for Brompton Beck north of Station Road. 

The agency said on its website that there is concern over rising water levels on Turker, Sun and Willow Becks in Northallerton.

At the confluence of Turker and Sun Becks, the areas most at risk are the properties around Alverton Lane, High Street, Friarage Street, East Road and the Friarage Hospital.

The warning for Willow Beck says the areas most at risk are Finkills Way, Tannery Lane, Springwell Lane and Bailey Court.

Regarding Sun Beck, the areas most at risk are properties on Bankhead Road, Bankhead Close, Ashlands Road, Ashlands Close, Ashlands Court and Valley Road, The Crescent and Brooklands Crescent.  

Warnings are also in place for Swinney Beck at Masham, Finkle Street and Riverside Mews at Cod Beck, Thirsk, and the Rivers Ure and Ouse in North Yorkshire.

For the River Swale, warnings are in force at Helperby, Howe village and by Skipton Bridge, Kirby Wiske, Myton on Swale, Thornton Bridge and Topcliffe.

A flood warning means that flooding is expected and immediate action is required.
