It was icy temperatures as hardy swimmers entered the sea for a bracing dip at Roker beach today.
Most North Sea dippers had braved the elements on Boxing Day and New Year's Day but some hardy swimmers made their way out to sea from Sunderland this morning to enjoy a refreshing swim.
