A TEEN who struggled with her mental health after losing her job due to Covid has set out to make sure others have a Christmas to remember.

Serena Riding, 19, from Thirsk, has raised more than £200 to make Christmas parcels for children, to be distributed to hostels and struggling families.

She said: "In September this year I unfortunately was let go from my job which I loved due to Covid-19, this left me very disheartened and not knowing what to do with myself.

"I’ve been finding it very difficult to find another job so my mental health has taken quite a knock with this happening.

"I realised lots of people would be struggling too, and in the run-up to Christmas, I wanted to do something to help.

"As of now we are at nearly 200 orders of gift bags which is incredible, and more than we ever imagined.

"The gift bags will be donated to women’s refuge’s, hostels, homeless organisations, food share banks and also families.

"Every child deserves a great Christmas, we’ve had an awful year so I will do everything in my power to make sure I make these amazing for the children."
