INTIMATE tours of a much-loved family home have started once again.

The moated and medieval Markenfield Hall, Ripon, has survived invasion, confiscation and even being struck by lightning and now, along with every other historic house in the country, is facing its latest challenge of opening its doors.

Socially-distanced Tiny Tours, which started on July 13, are limited to a maximum of only ten people and must be booked in advance.

Ian Curteis said: "These are unprecedented times. The hall has withstood numerous challenges (and disasters) over the years, but this closure is truly unprecedented. It does, however, offer people a wonderful opportunity to see the hall at its most peaceful, as we are fortunate to see it every day."
