A MALPAS care home has been given top marks from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for their handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prospect House, in High Street, appointed registered general nurse, Sarah Stroud as house manager in March, just as the Covid-19 crisis took hold in the UK.

Despite arriving during a difficult time for the home, Sarah steered Prospect House and her team successfully through the last few months, with the CQC confirming the home has the systems and processes in place to mitigate the risk of Covid-19, and maintain the safety of their residents and employees.

Joanne Scott, operation director at Prospect House, said she was delighted with the efforts of Sarah and her staff.

"We are delighted to have Sarah on board leading our team so effectively," said Joanne. "Sarah, who joins us from a north west based care home group, brings with her more than 17 years of proven experience in care home senior management.

"She is a dedicated professional and a committed and passionate nurse whose aim is to provide the very best, person-centered care for residents through innovative care, continually promoting and improving service quality."

Supported by deputy manager, Megan Owen, a registered mental health nurse, the pair have combined forces using their extensive experience in nursing and dementia care, alongside enhanced compliance and management skills, to manage the coronavirus risk to date efficiently.

Sarah herself added: “Not only am I incredibly happy to be leading the team here at Prospect House, I am absolutely delighted with the outcome of the CQC assessment which confirms we have taken the necessary measures and precautions to mitigate the risks associated with Covid-19.

"This has only been made possible by the continued dedication and commitment of our amazing staff team and I would like to extend our thanks and congratulations to all of our staff who have worked so hard to support our residents during this time.”

As soon as the opportunity allows, Sarah and Megan are looking forward to re-opening the home to visitors.
