A SCHOOL is inviting its pupils to design a logo dedicated to career's fairs, which could see them win an Amazon Echo or vouchers of their choice.

Haughton Academy, in Darlington and part of the Education Village, is asking its puils to great creative and design a logo to be used in all career-related events and lessons.

The winning entry will receive an Amazon Echo smart speaker. If a design is partially used, as the school may combine submissions, vouchers are up for grabs.

Caroline Larsen, careers and vocational subject lead who is running the competition, hopes that by creating a logo, students will be engaged more with the school despite lockdown and begin to associate events with employability skills when back in September.

She said: "The biggest thing for me is that pupils develop their employability. It's important that when they go on trips to university they know it's about employability, talking to people about future careers and raising their aspirations.

"It's important that we connect academics and future employability and a logo will build a brand.

"The last thing I want is a shield with hands around it and careers written somewhere, I really want pupils to be creative here."

Mrs Larsen stressed designs do not have to be in colour, can be any size and hand drawn, in a bid to make the competition as inclusive as possible.

Students should email clarsen@educationvillage.org.uk with designs by Friday, July 17.
