IF you go down to Newby Hall this weekend, you're in for a big surprise – as the Teddy Bear House has been given a new home within the gardens.

Gyles Brandreth's teddy bear collection have been lovingly collected over the years by Gyles and his wife Michele.

They are permanently on show, with an ever-evolving display of new famous bears, along with bears in various guises and scenes.

Louise Scott has been preparing the bears for the re-opening of the Bear House on Saturday, July 4.

She said: "We want you to bring your own bear along for a selfie and of course, teddy bears’ picnics throughout the year!

"The Bear House is free to visit with a gardens ticket. Newby Teddy is available to buy in the gift shop, railway shop and online and comes with a free train ride.

The Bear House contains Gyles Brandreth's collection of more than 1,000 bears and has been open to Newby Hall's visitors since opening in 2017.

The Newby Hall Miniature Railway, which runs along the River Ure, is re-opening on July 8, with steam and gas locomotives.
