A MAN was taken to hospital after being slashed with a machete in the middle of a junction.

The 41-year-old man, who suffered an injury to his arm, was assaulted by four men in the middle of Yarm Lane, in Stockton, at the junction with Leybourne Terrace. 

It happened at about 11.45pm on Thursday and the man received treatment at the University Hospital of North Tees. 

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage of the incident. 

A police spokesperson said: "A 41-year-old man was assaulted by four males in the middle of the road. He suffered an injury to his arm caused by a machete.

"The suspects then left the scene in a red car that made off along Leybourne Terrace and then Middleton Walk or Tarring Street.

"The victim was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, where he received treatment and was later released.

"Anyone with information regarding the incident or anyone who may have private CCTV or dash cam footage which may have captured the red car leaving the area is asked to contact Detective Constable James Limon from Stockton CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 102706."
