A HOSPICE is one of the charities set to receive donations of Easter eggs from a supermarket.
Aldi is donating 15,500 Easter eggs to charities in the North-East, including St Teresa's Hospice.
The donations are part of Aldi’s ongoing partnership with community engagement platform, Neighbourly, which sees food donated to local charities and community groups each day.
Fritz Walleczek, managing director of corporate responsibility at Aldi UK and Ireland, said: “We’re always looking for new and creative ways to increase the amount of food that we’re able to donate. Working with Neighbourly to donate Easter eggs to different groups and charities across the nation is a great way for us to bring a festive treat this Easter.”
Steve Butterworth, chief executive of Neighbourly, said: "We’re grateful to be able to partner with Aldi on this project and proud to support them in their ongoing commitment to reduce food waste and make a positive difference to the communities where they operate at this particularly difficult time.”
