POLICE officers are trying to trace down the owners of a number of pieces of jewellery after they were found in Darlington.

Police say the items were located on a quad bike, which had made off from officers in the Redhill area at about 11.30am on Sunday.

The quad was located a short time later, however the driver and pillion passenger made off.

Various items, including a watch, brooches and ornamental picture frame were located on the vehicle.

Two men, aged 27 and 30, were later arrested on suspicion of taking without consent and have received no further action.
