GISBOROUGH Priory Project’s Snowdrop Sunday was held on Sunday and was as popular as always.

Despite the earlier rain and the forecast for high winds, the sun did come out and more than 400 people came along to enjoy the snowdrops and the delicious home-baked cakes.

The project took more than £180 on refreshment sales and with donations on the gate of nearly £300, it made a grand total of £480 taken during the afternoon, regarded as an excellent start to the year’s events.

Mike Heagney from Tudor Croft in Guisborough, an expert on snowdrops, brought his snowdrops and early flowering bulbs to sell during the afternoon and, due to the inclement weather during the morning, a decision was made to serve refreshments from the Priory hut.

Sheila Berry from the Priory Project said: “We thank those who came along to help and support at this event and for the generous contributions of home-baking and preserves to sell during the afternoon. All this helps enormously to make open days and activities so popular and we couldn’t do it without continued help and support.”

The project’s next fundraising event will be the Spring coffee morning on Saturday, March 21 in Guisborough Methodist Church Hall.
