A TEENAGER has been stabbed after being chased away from a game of football.

The 16-year-old was taken to an urgent care centre after being  injured in an incident in Seaton Carew last night.

The boy had been playing football at The Sports Domes on Tees Road when there was a verbal altercation and he was chased from the centre by a group of males, a police spokesperson said.

It happened at about 5.30pm.

He was taken to Hartlepool Urgent Care for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police say they do not know what weapon was used and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Officers would appeal for anyone who may have dash cam footage from anyone dropping off or picking up from The Sports Dome or any witnesses to contact them."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Steve Ridsdale from Hartlepool CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 25194.
