The following cases were among those heard at Teesside Magistrates' Court during the last week.

CHARLIE HENRY MCPHILLIPS was given a community order after admitting to stealing food and chocolate from the Iceland shop in Middlesbrough, as well as £58 of food from One Stop Shop. The 20-year-old, of York Road, Middlesbrough, will have to carry out 20 days rehabilitation activity.

LIAM DENNING was fined £285 after driving while above the drug drive limit. Denning, 23, of Melrose Avenue, Billingham was driving in Crimdon Dene car park while above the prescribed limit of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. He pleaded guilty and was banned from driving for 12 months.

TRACEY ANN KINLAN, 48, was fined £120 after being above the legal limit for cocaine and Benzoylecgonine while she was driving in Mariners Point, Hartlepool on October 22 last year. She has been banned from driving for three years.

ADAM HOLMES was fined £266 after failing to carry out unpaid work as part of a community order. The 26-year-old of Prior Court, Billingham, had pleaded guilty.

SIMONE REED, 31, of Palmer Walk, Eaglescliffe, was fined £50 after failing to do unpaid work as part of a community order. The fine was issued after the community order, which was given to her for evading duty on tobacco products, was revoked.

SAM MILLER was given a 12 weeks prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after being found guilty of driving a transit van in Darlington while disqualified. He was found guilty of driving without due care and attention after being involved in a crash on Bowesfield Lane on August 12 last year. Miller, 28, of Geneva Road, Darlington was banned from driving for six months and was told to pay costs of £620 and the victim surcharge of £122.

SHANE JAMES SKINNER, 22, of Durham Road, Stockton, was given a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to assault. He was told to pay a victim surcharge of £21 and costs of £85.

JOANNE MCCONAGHIE, of Abdale Avenue, Middlesbrough, was banned from driving and fined £245. She pleaded guilty to driving in Middlesbrough while above the drink drive limit. She had 87 microgrammes of alcohol in millilitres of breath. She was banned for 17 months.

CLARE HUMPHRIES will have to carry out a community order after admitting to a racially aggravated assault. The 33-year-old, of Dales Park Road, Middlesbrough, will have to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and pay compensation of £250.

SHAUN MICHAEL HUMPHRIES, of Dales Park Road, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to a racially aggravated assault by beating. He also admitted causing damage to a car belonging to the same victim. The 32-year-old was given a 16 week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months and has to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work.

JACK WILLIAM HARFORD, 25, of Lumley Road, Redcar will have to carry out 10 days of rehabilitation activity as part of a community order after he was found guilty of assaulting a woman by beating. He was told to pay a victim surcharge of £90 and costs of £150. He was found not guilty of a more serious charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

OLGIERD STANSLAW BAK, 19, was fined £314 after being caught speeding in Belle Vue Way, Hartlepool. Bak, of Maldon Road, Middlesbrough, was banned from driving for 56 days. He also has to pay costs of £85 and the victim surcharge of £32.
