BRITAIN'S friendliest Bed and Breakfast is showcasing local produce in a drive to offer guests a special themed cookery experience.

Paul and Amy Callin, owners of Woodlands Farm near Thimbleby, on the North York Moors, was voted Britain’s friendliest B&B in this year’s AA Awards. They invested in a new cookery centre thanks to a Tourism Grant through the Moors Park Authority.

The investment created a kitchen area including ovens and equipment for groups of four to six. The space means Amy, who trained at the famous Leiths School of Food and Wine in London before becoming a Tutor at Bettys Cookery School, can share her culinary skills and champion local food and drink experts. The Cookery Experiences will particularly run in the shoulder season to encourage visitors to the area.

They are currently looking at a range of experiences from fish to call my bluff wine evenings and inviting local food heroes for talks and tastings.

Amy said: "Whether it’s freshly caught seafood along our coast, talented cheese makers or innovative distillers, the North York Moors has a wealth of great food and drink that we want to shout about.

"We’re hoping to tap into the growing demand among UK and overseas visitors for opportunities to enjoy new experiences." Go to www.mykitchen.woodlandsfarmthimbleby.com
