A DALES artist will host a second exhibition of work at the end of the month in Richmond.

My Back Yard an exhibition of paintings and prints by Wensleydale – based Lynn Ward inspired by the humble magnificence of Yorkshire Dales landscape which goes on show at the Station Richmond.

Lynn is a full-time professional artist known for her murals and landscape painting. Her work has been exhibited across North Yorkshire. Two years ago she successfully held a display of her work entitled A Yorkshire View at the same venue and has her own studio at Leyburn which opened four years ago.

Born and bred in Yorkshire, Lynn’s artwork is strongly inspired by her surroundings. She mostly uses acrylic or oil in her work which is primarily landscapes but not the traditional view.

Early in her career, Lynn spent a number of years working on murals and sculptures for The Forbidden Corner spending a good deal of time underground. Her varied commissions have ranged from pantomime scenery, murals in restaurants including a large depiction of the Dunkirk evacuation.

She said: “I am drawn to contrasts whether it be stormy skies or shapes and shadows created by a gate or a stone wall of which the Dales provides in abundance.

“I’ve called it My Back Yard as the stunning dales that inspires most of my work is literally in where I live.”

The exhibition runs from Saturday, February 29, to Wednesday, March 11, at The Station, Richmond, DL10 4LD. Meet the artist on Saturday, February 29, and Saturday, March 7; see www.lynnwardartist.com.
