TWO teenagers have been arrested after four vehicles were stolen overnight.

The incidents happened in close succession, just after 4am yesterday in the Hartlepool and Stockton areas.

Officers were called to Silverbirch Road in Hartlepool where a black Vauxhall Astra was stolen, Chesham Road in Stockton, where a silver Hyundai I20 and a black Vauxhall Astra were taken and Weardale Crescent in Billingham, where a blue Ford Focus was stolen.

There were also two incidents prior to this on Dewberry Close in Hartlepool and Central Avenue in Billingham where attempts were made to steal vehicles.

At about 4:20am two male teenagers aged 17 and 19 were arrested on Mill Meadon Court on suspicion of three burglaries and two attempted burglaries. They remain in police custody.

Officers are also keen to speak to another two males in connection with the incidents and they are carrying out enquiries to trace them.
