THERE will be something for everyone as the popular annual Christmas Market returns to The Bowes Museum this weekend.

Your senses will come alive as the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas take over the Museum in Barnard Castle from 10am until 4pm today, tomorrow and on Sunday.

There will be over 80 handpicked stalls selling a variety of wares both inside the museum and on the parterre garden.

There will be artisan home-made goods including, candles, leather bags, glassware, soft furnishings, wreaths and decorations, jewellery, footwear and stationery, plus trimmings for the Christmas table too with artisan pies, cheeses, chocolates, meats, gins, jams, cakes and vegan delights.

There will be hot food and drink available to buy on the day as you wander round the Market, including, mulled wine, hot chocolate, prosecco, fries, sizzling sausages and nachos.

Children can have fun making sparkly festive crafts in the Vaults and having free rides on the carousel, with live music throughout the event to help get you in the Christmas spirit.

Entry is free to pass holders and £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, which also provides entry into The Power and The Virtue: Guido Reni’s Death of Lucretia and the Norman Cornish: The Definitive Collection exhibitions.

Santa is still in residence until December 23. On arrival, children are greeted by his friendly elves who will lead them through to his workshop where they can create seasonal crafts to take home before meeting Santa in his cosy sitting room grotto. Admission to Santa’s grotto is £12 a child.
