A CHRISTMAS community event offers people from across Hambleton and Richmondshire the opportunity to remember and pay tribute to loved ones, while supporting local families living with terminal illness to make the most of their time together over the festive season.

Herriot Hospice Homecare annual Light up a Life campaign invites local people to dedicate a light on the charity’s Christmas tree in memory of someone in their thoughts this festive season.

Chief Executive of Herriot Hospice Homecare and Saint Michael’s Hospice, Tony Collins, said: “We warmly invite you – our community – to be part of our very special Light up Life event.

“Many of us have special festive traditions and this year Herriot Hospice Homecare warmly invites you to make remembering and celebrating the lives of loved ones a meaningful part of your Christmas tradition by dedicating a light in tribute.”

The lights will be illuminated at; St Mary’s Church, Thirsk, at 4pm on Saturday, December 14

Herriot Hospice Homecare is majority funded by the community, and is provided across the district, wherever people call home. When you make a donation as part of your dedication, you’ll be helping Herriot Hospice Homecare to be there for more families affected by terminal illness over the festive season. Your donation could help Herriot Hospice Homecare to support patients in their place of choice, ensuring they can spend Christmas at home surrounded by friends and family.
