STUDENTS from Risedale Sports and Community College, Catterick, were this week given a talk by the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, Lisa Winward.
Chief Constable Winward began her talk by telling the students about her background and what inspired her to become a police officer. She explained what policing in North Yorkshire was like, how the service is structured and in what ways the criminal justice service has changed over the years.
The visit was part of the Speakers for Schools programme which aims to connect young people with inspiring and influential individuals, providing impactful school talks to broaden students’ minds.
She encouraged the students to consider joining the Volunteer Police Cadet scheme, for 14 to 18-year-olds.
