A SLEEPY village will come alive with the sound of music when a sold-out festival returns to North Yorkshire this weekend.

Organisers of Deer Shed Festival are celebrating after the final tickets to their tenth anniversary event were snatched up by crowds keen to see acts including The Wedding Present, Anna Calvi and Super Furry Animals singer-songwriter Gruff Rhys.

The event is renowned for being one of the country's most family-friendly festivals and features a line-up of theatrical and comedic entertainment alongside live music performances and workshops.

A festival spokesman said hotels and B&Bs around Topcliffe, where the festival is held, were at capacity for the weekend as fans flocked to the area.

He added: "This shows the fierce loyalty of Deer Shed’s repeat audience. Those who have played a part in the festival before trust the programming will be eclectic and full of quality across the board, for the whole family."
