CLEVELAND Bridge UK transformed part of its extensive manufacturing site in Darlington into a seaside funfair to celebrate the summer and reward the hard work of its staff.

A large area of the 23-acre site in Yarm Road became ‘Cleveland By The Sea’ for the company’s workforce and their families to enjoy a variety of traditional British summertime entertainment.

More than 700 guests enjoyed funfair rides including dodgems, a helter skelter, a pirate ship, cups and saucers and flying chairs as well as having the opportunity to test their skills on a surf machine and a crazy golf course.

For the younger guests the company laid on a soft play area and a large sandpit as well as an expert face painter who transformed the children into exotic animals and superheroes.

A soundtrack of live music was performed by a collection of North-East acts and the event offered classic seaside fare of fish and chips and ice cream, which was enjoyed by many in glorious sunshine from the comfort of deck chairs.

Chris Droogan, managing director at Cleveland Bridge UK, said: “The seaside funfair theme was a real success and guests of all ages enjoyed everything that was going on. Cleveland Bridge UK is very proud of its workforce and there is a strong sense of family in the company, so it was great for the team to bring their families to where they work and have a wonderful fun time together.”
