FOODIES enjoyed a weekend of Wensleydale’s culinary contrasts.
Held for a fourth time since a move from its traditional out-of-town spot to the centre of Leyburn, the Dales Festival of Food and Drink has kept up its popularity with enthusiasts.
More than 60 stalls offered food and drink, while Wensleydale Creamery, the main sponsors for the last four years, were kept busy on both days with high demand for their products.
Their cheese experts demonstrated how to turn pints of local milk into 500g of Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese in less than 40 minutes. Although both days experienced a short monsoon-like downpour, the street entertainment artists continued undeterred.
David Poole, of organisers Leyburn & Mid-Wensleydale Partnership Ltd, said: “The traders all seemed to be busy and the festival is an excellent advert for the Dales.”
