TEESDALE and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team were called to a crash at Rookhope, in County Durham, which left a woman unable to walk to the road ambulance.
The incident happened yesterday, at about 3.15pm and involved a grey Peugeot 308.
The driver was travelling from Eastgate to Rookhope when the vehicle left the road and came to rest approximately 10metres below the road.
The mountain rescue team used a bell stretcher with a rope system to raise the woman to the road side.
She suffered leg injuries and was transferred to the University Hospital of North Durham for further treatment.
Durham Police and the North East Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
