ARTISTS across North Yorkshire will be inviting visitors to take a peek into their studios over two weekends in June.

Discover art in inspirational locations, while enjoying a creative treasure trail of studios stretching from the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline to the moors and dales, exploring villages and market towns located right across the county.

Explore workspaces of all shapes and sizes at the 2019 North Yorkshire Open Studios event, when you can look behind the scenes. Artists include Thirsk-based printmaker, Andrew Dalton, whose dramatic works reveal his fascination with black and white, whether figurative, abstract, industrial or rural.

In nearby Asenby, Eric Moss uses clay to create his distinctive sculpture forms.

Near Easingwold artists include Debbie Loane at the Lund Studios, whose stunning drawings and paintings are a personal response to the wild expanses of northern England. Also in this area is Justine Warner, a mixed-media and textile artist, who uses sewing techniques such as applique, hand and free machine embroidery to create lively landscape artworks.

Dales area artists include sculptor Michael Kusz, whose magical creations are all made from reclaimed materials, much of his work is inspired by his pet crow who is often to be found ‘assisting’ in his studio.

On the moors artists include Stephen Heward who, following a career as a landscape architect and flying instructor, discovered painting as a liberating and expressive outlet. Artisans include hat maker Veronica Hartley, whose stunning creations are inspired by insects, plants, and the surrounding landscape.
