THE Spice Girls' highly-anticipated reunion tour arrives in Sunderland tonight.

The Spice World 2019 Tour concert will see more than 50,000 fans attend the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on Thursday, June 6.

If you wannabe on time doors open at 5pm before the Spice Girls go on stage at 8.30pm.

Emma, Geri, Mel B and Mel C will showcase their greatest hits following a performance by pop star Jess Glynne at 7.15pm.

The musical megastars will spice up your life with hits including Who Do You Think You Are, Viva Forever and If You Wanna Be My Lover.

Fans will be transported back to the 90s to see Baby, Ginger, Scary and Sporty bring back girl power.

If you're travelling by Metro you won't need to worry about which ticket to buy. Each machine will have a dedicated 'Spice Girls 6 June' button to reduce queues at the stations.

The Northern Echo:

Road closures will take place at 7am and there will be increased Metro and bus services to ensure fans make the gig.

A traffic management system will be in place to avoid over-congestion.

Sunderland City Council is offering 3,500 car parking spaces and on/off street parking. There will also be private car parks all within walking distance of the stadium.

A park and walk system will be put in place from Sunderland Enterprise Park and Deptford with access from main road routes into the city.

The best routes into the city for motorists will be signposted with temporary traffic signs, with drivers advised to switch off sat navs and follow signs.

The gig will celebrate ten years since the first concert came to the Stadium of Light, and three years since the last.

The stadium will be divided into multi-coloured zones – purple, red, blue, green, yellow and platinum.

The zones correspond to a colour indicated at the top of concert tickets and the entry points around the stadium – which will be signposted on the day of the show.

Concert-goers are advised to check their ticket carefully in advance, so they know what zone to look for on arrival.

Young people aged 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult aged over 18 in order to enter the venue.

Unaccompanied youngsters aged 14 or under will not be permitted entry and under 16s will not be allowed on the pitch.

Tony Davison, of Sunderland AFC said: “To be able to restart concerts with an iconic act like the Spice Girls is just fantastic for us and for all attending, who are in for an incredible night.”
