A CANAL and water garden created for Welcome to Yorkshire at RHS Chelsea Flower Show is making waves after being awarded a highly coveted Gold Medal.
The garden is inspired by Yorkshire's industrial heritage and stunning landscapes and features a canal with flowing water and genuine lock gates. It was designed by Mark Gregory from Landform Consultants and marks the tourism groups tenth anniversary at the world-famous show.
The scheme also includes a towpath and lock keeper’s lodge with a colourful garden and vegetable patch.Welcome to Yorkshire’s Commercial Director Peter Dodd said: "We were blown away when we saw it and it looks like the judges were too. The reaction has been incredible, and this is exactly why we’ve been coming to RHS Chelsea for the last decade, to open people’s eyes to the beauty of Yorkshire."
Sean McGinley, Director of Yorkshire and North East Canal and River Trust added: "Our huge congratulations to Welcome to Yorkshire. The attention to detail and passion is phenomenal, we are proud to have supported it by dontating these genuine lock gates."
