TWO girls have raised hundreds of pounds by chopping off their hair for charity.
Cousins Ashton Dowd, 10, and Ebonie Rutherford, 11, set out to cut 30cm of their hair while raising money for The Little Princess Trust.
The girls, both pupils at Heathfield Primary School in Darlington, spent months fundraising before their big day on May 1, where they got their hair cut at Eastbourne Hair Salon on Eastbourne Road.
Collectively the pair raised £291.09 for the cause, which uses donated hair to make free wigs for young people up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses.
Ashton and Ebonie held fundraisers and left donation pots with local business to collect the money.
Parent Stewart Savage said: "All the family are so proud of the girls.
"We would like to thank Yarm Road Post Office, Seasons Express and B&G, both on Yarm road, Eastbourne Road Premier shop, and Retro Sweet Shop in the town for helping the girls raise the money."
