A NEW networking group has recently launched in Thirsk to help connect and promote businesswomen across the region.

The Stella network was launched in the North-East last October by Hartlepool business coach Lucy Patterson and since then it has expanded to six sites across North Yorkshire, Teesside and County Durham.

Thirsk is the latest addition to the network and meetings are being held monthly at the The Pamper Lounge, with the next taking place on May 15 at 1.30pm.

The Northern Echo:

Ms Patterson said she saw there was a demand for local business networking events to be moved outside of traditional conference centres in favour of less formal venues where women could feel more themselves.

Incidentally, every business venue that hosts a Stella meeting is run by a mother and daughter team and Ms Patterson said: "Our aim is to enable women to access networking events for their business without the usual anxiety that is sometimes attached to these events.

"Traditionally networking events can be very 'grey-suit', very swapping of business cards and hand shakes - there is no colour and it can be quite intimidating."
