PEOPLE are being encouraged to pull on their running shoes to enjoy some fun in the foam and support their local hospice at the same time.

Teesside Hospice, alongside Extreme Adventure, are organising the Bubble Rush 5km in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, on Sunday, September 15.

The fun event is open to all ages and spaces are expected to fill up quickly.

Kim Bradley, the Hospice's senior community and events fundraiser, said “We are so excited to be bringing a new 5k fun run with a difference to Middlesbrough. The initial response to this event has been brilliant, we expect places to fill up fast.

“This event is all about getting together with your friends and family, having fun and supporting Teesside Hospice. Whether you run, walk, dance or skip your way around the course, as long as you finish covered in bubbles, your work is done.”

The fun run kicks off at 11am and will see runners of all ages and abilities, covered from head to toe in thousands of multi-coloured bubbles.

Before the event, crowds will be entertained and warmed up by Toni McGlone who runs Clubbercise Teesside.

The Bubble Rush, which is sponsored by local shoe retailer Charles Clinkard, is also supported by Darlington Building Society, Hill Care: Care Home, Middlesbrough College and Peking Gardens.

Early bird tickets are priced at £5 for children, £15 for adults and £35 for families, until July 29.
