A JAZZ band with a difference plays the final gig of a UK tour in Stockton next month.

The Riot Jazz Brass Band, which is due to release its sixth record on May 6 – an EP entitled On Job – performs at The Georgian Theatre, on Saturday, June 15, at 8pm.

After their 2018 release Ten Covers, the band returned to the studio in early 2019 to record this selection of five original tracks. Two of the numbers will be familiar to live audiences over the past couple of years, while the other three were composed especially for the session.

The Riot Jazz Brass Band will be touring to promote the new release, and will also be working with young musicians and composers in a series of workshops.

The band is a nine-piece brass band based in Manchester, consisting of three trumpets, three trombones, sousaphone and drums, and fronted by the lead singer, Chunky. The band has travelled and performed extensively around the country and Europe over the past ten years, with highlights including Glastonbury, WOMAD, London Jazz Festival and Love Supreme.

Be prepared for an exhibition of exhilarating music, guaranteed to have even the most stoic audience member on their feet and dancing. Their material draws from jazz, hip-hop, Balkan, trap, grime, dubstep, Latin and classical.
