TRAFFIC was disrupted in Newcastle city centre this morning as climate change campaigners held a demonstration.
There was queuing traffic and congestion at Neville Street and approaching the Tyne Bridge as the Extinction Rebellion go slow cycle ride demonstration got underway.
Protesters began their cycle at 7.30am at Central Station and were heading towards the Gateshead Civic Centre.
Activists staged a disruptive ‘die-in demonstration’ at Grey’s Monument in Newcastle city centre on Wednesday and are due to stage mock funeral services on the streets of Durham to 'mourn the loss of species, humans and the planet' tomorrow.
Extinction Rebellion is calling for 'decisive action on the climate and ecological collapse from governments around the world'.
