A DEDICATED nurse will be remembered this weekend with a football match in her honour.

Claire Shaw, of Byers Green, passed away in March 2016 after battling cancer. The mother-of-two was 45.

Since then her family, including husband Andrew, and her friends have held an annual charity event called Smile4Claire.

The team have since raised £27,000 and are going from strength to strength.

This year they will be holding a charity football match and family fun day at Bishop Auckland Football Club's Heritage Park. Mrs Shaw was the secretary for the junior team.

Doors will open at 1pm tomorrow before the St Mary's Under 14 team play against their parents.

The main game will begin at 3pm.

Night entertainment will start at 7pm with music from Jodie Fitzgibbon.

Entry is £2 for the day or £7 for the day and night. Children under 14 go free.
