IT was High Jinks all the way at Bedale High School with a range of activities being held in aid of Comic Relief.

Staff and students contributed jokes to a school comic, High Jinks Magazine, which was sold by students all week during break time and lunchtime.

Copies were also on sale via Red House in Bedale High Street. The publication also featured caricatures of teachers, short stories and artwork all produced by the highly talented students.

Students could also pay to participate in a guess the teacher from the baby photo competition.

The week culminated in a staff verses students football match held on Friday lunchtime with students donating 50p to attend.

It was the ageing limbs of the staff team who emerged victorious thanks to a long range strike from Richard Carruthers which was followed by a poacher’s finish from headteacher Tony Rawdin making it 2-0, before Taylor McCourt pegged one back for the students which made for a tense finish.

A school spokesman said: “The match was a competitive affair with both football and Comic Relief emerging as the real winners.

“With money still to come in, the activities have so far raised £175.”
