VOLUNTEER Wombles have been hard at work in Northallerton where they held their seventh monthly litter pick and found 65 sacks of rubbish.
The Wombles of Hambleton is a group of volunteers who run a one hour litter pick around the town centre and surrounding areas. The last one on February 24 involved 47 volunteers who turned out including many youngsters from local secondary schools.
The Wombles said four groups tackled different areas of the town, using two trollies donated by local businesses MD Mobility and Andrew Bramley Associates. They're calling on local businesses to make an effort to keep their patch tidy to reflect well on their businesses and on the town. The next litter pick will coincide with the Great British Spring Clean, on Sunday, March 24 at 2pm, starting from the Tourist Information Centre in the Applegarth.
