A CHARITY which supports women and children fleeing abuse has received a cash boost.
EVA Women’s Aid has been awarded a £1,000 donation from Vodafone UK after the store team in Redcar chose the charity for a Community Connection Award.
The charity provides a range of free and confidential specialist support services such as information and guidance, counselling and supported housing.
It recently purchased its fourth Safe House and the £1,000 will help pay for soft furnishings such as curtains, duvets and cushions ahead of its opening.
Richinda Taylor, CEO at EVA Women’s Aid said: “On behalf of all the service users who will benefit from the £1,000 award as well as the staff and volunteers at EVA Women’s Aid, I would like to thank you for choosing us to receive this generous donation.
"With our new Safe House scheduled to open in the Spring, the money will go a long way in creating a safe and secure place for victims to stay.”
Store manager Emma-Louise Wilberforce said, “We are absolutely delighted to donate £1,000 to EVA Women’s Aid as they provide such an important service in Redcar. It was a privilege to meet some of their team members and to give this donation to such a worthy cause.”
