CHILDREN in Northallerton tuned in for special lessons for life with the benefit of tuition from professional musician James Stretton.

James a brass instrumentalist visited Mill Hill primary to pass on his knowledge and expertise. The event was organised by Sowerby Music, part of the Music for Life scheme, a not for profit organisation working with schools and parents to inspire youngsters through live music.

Head Teacher Rebecca Bainbridge said all year three, four and five children were involved in playing either a trumpet or trombone. She added: "This was a very valuable event. Music teaches so many life skills, it’s a wonderful opportunity for our children to hear live music from a talented musician and to play is an added bonus. Their confidence visibly grew through the day culminating in a fabulous performance."
