A TEAM of mechanics are ensuring customers are not alarmed by their appearance in the coming months, as they take on a charity challenge with a twist.
Rather than commit to a straightforward headshave, members of staff at Darlington Tyre and Auto Care have agreed to let their locks grow long without any styling or trimming from January until May.
The fundraising group must not groom their facial hair and are not allowed any trims or hair cuts throughout the lengthy challenge period.
On May 1, the group will then have their heads completely shaved, with the hair being donated to a wig charity. Money raised throughout the challenge will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
Michael Graves, of Darlington Tyre and Auto Care, Parkgate, said: "Some of us can be very particular about our hair so it genuinely will be a big deal to let it go a bit and not look after it.
"It's going to be a long five long months and we would appreciate any donations to support the challenge."
